Position Overview: General Education Teachers (Elementary)

The General Education Teacher - Elementary at PPLA PCS is a dedicated educator who cultivates a vibrant and nurturing learning environment where every child flourishes. This role requires a deep understanding of child development, curriculum design, and differentiated instruction to meet the diverse needs of young learners. The teacher will collaborate closely with colleagues, families, and administrators to inspire a love of learning and empower each student to reach their full potential. The ideal candidate will be familiar with Project-Based Learning (PBL) curriculums and pedagogy, and have experience designing and implementing engaging, student-centered learning experiences.  Additionally, a strong understanding of Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) frameworks and their application in the classroom is essential.

Reports to: Principal 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Creating a Joyful Learning Environment:

    • Design a welcoming and stimulating classroom where students feel safe, respected, and eager to learn.

    • Foster a growth mindset, encouraging students to embrace challenges and celebrate their successes.

    • Incorporate playful learning experiences and hands-on activities to spark curiosity and make learning fun.

  • Igniting Young Minds:

    • Develop and deliver engaging lessons aligned with state standards, school curriculum, and the unique needs of each student.

    • Utilize a variety of innovative teaching strategies and resources to captivate students' imaginations and promote critical thinking, problem-solving, and creativity.

    • Differentiate instruction to meet the individual learning styles and needs of all students, including those with exceptionalities and diverse cultural backgrounds.

    • Integrate technology thoughtfully to enhance learning and equip students with essential digital literacy skills.

  • Nurturing Growth and Development:

    • Establish clear expectations for behavior and implement positive classroom management strategies that promote self-regulation and responsibility.

    • Build strong, nurturing relationships with students, fostering their social-emotional development and creating a sense of belonging.

    • Collaborate with families to support students' academic and personal growth, ensuring open communication and shared responsibility.

  • Championing Student Success:

    • Regularly assess student learning using a variety of formative and summative assessments, including authentic projects, presentations, and performance tasks.

    • Analyze student data to inform instruction, provide personalized feedback to students and families, and celebrate individual achievements.

    • Maintain accurate records of student progress and achievement.

  • Collaborating and Growing Together:

    • Collaborate with colleagues to plan and implement curriculum, share best practices, and contribute to a supportive and collaborative school culture.

    • Communicate effectively with parents/guardians about student progress, concerns, and school events.

    • Participate actively in school-wide initiatives, committees, and professional learning communities.

    • Engage in ongoing professional development to refine teaching practices, explore innovative approaches, and stay abreast of current research in education.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education or a related field from an accredited college or university.

  • Valid state teaching license or certification for Elementary Education.

  • Deep understanding of child development principles and learning styles.

  • Passion for teaching and commitment to fostering a love of learning in all students.

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and classroom management skills.

  • Ability to use technology effectively in the classroom.

  • Dedication to creating a positive and inclusive learning environment where every student thrives.

  • Familiarity with Project-Based Learning (PBL) curriculums and pedagogy.

  • Strong understanding of Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) frameworks and their application in the classroom.

Clearance Required:

  • Background check and fingerprinting clearance will be required.
